SDA Design Standard 2021 Compliant
Specialist Home Automation and Electrical Systems for NDIS High Physical Support (HPS) and Improved Liveability Homes
For participants with significant functional impairments, the ability to perform daily tasks without human assistance is transformative. In the context of the NDIS, automation is not a luxury; it is "Assistive Technology" that promotes dignity, independence, and long-term wellbeing.
SecurityConnect specializes in the High Physical Support (HPS) category. We understand that unlike standard housing, HPS homes must be designed to support people with extreme functional impairment who require high levels of support. Our systems are designed to reduce manual handling risks for support workers while maximizing control for the resident.
Clause 22 Compliance
Powering Life-Safety
The SDA Design Standard (Clause 22) is explicit: High Physical Support homes must have an emergency power solution capable of sustaining life-safety equipment for a minimum of 2 hours during an outage.
We install medical-grade UPS systems integrated directly into the sub-board. This ensures that automated doors, ceiling hoists, and communication devices remain operational during a blackout, guaranteeing safe egress and care continuity.
Failing to provide this renders an HPS home non-compliant and un-enrollable with the NDIA.
Seamless Mobility
We provide and install heavy-duty automated door operators that meet the minimum clear opening width of 950mm required for HPS homes.
These doors are linked to video intercoms, allowing participants to view visitors via a tablet or smartphone and grant access without moving.
All units feature auto-reverse sensors and battery backup for reliable operation.
Your Voice, Your Control
We recognize that every participant's functional capacity is different. Our systems are agnostic, integrating with:
Automated blinds, lighting, and HVAC control to regulate sensory environments for participants with autism or sensory processing disorders.
The NDIS landscape is evolving. "Future-proofing" is a core requirement of the SDA Design Standard. For HPS homes, this includes pre-installed cabling to windows for future blind automation and reinforced ceilings for hoist installation.
A home that is difficult to retrofit for a participant's specific needs will sit vacant. We ensure your build is "Automation Ready" from day one.
We provide full electrical schematics and compliance certificates to assist your SDA Assessor in the enrollment process.
